Kids are introduced with a model of simple breathing exercises to help with stress and anxiety management. The friendly bird characters are animated to easily visualize and practice various styles of breathing. There is also a visual countdown for the user to monitor how long to complete the exercise.

Goal: Students will gain a better understanding of how to do breathing exercises and recognize ways to apply them.

EXERCISE 1: Breathing Wings - Paced Breathing: Observe and practice ways to control and slow the pace of breath by following the bird’s wings up and down as you breathe in and out.

EXERCISE 2: Beach Ball Breathing - Diaphragm Breathing: Observe and practice ways to breathe fuller and deeper breaths by expanding the belly (diaphragm) like a beach ball.

EXERCISE 3: Smell the Roses, Blow Out the Candles - Nasal Inhale/Oral Exhale: Observe and practice ways to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.
LESSON WRAP-UP: Talk about the Breathing Exercises students completed. Offer a designated place for calming or independent use of Bird Breathing quietly on their own. Explain that this can help when feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
